It's a multidimensional picture, dealing with the process of making a film. The story of Marta - a cultured, middle-aged woman married to a small-town Doctor – is a starting point for the movie. One day she meets a much younger man, Boguś, who charms her with his youth and simple-mindedness. Their innocent "dates" on the riverbank are marked by mutual fascination. In the end, a sudden and cruel twist of fate puts an end to their encounters.
In "Sweet Rush" Andrzej Wajda intersperses the plot with Krystyna Janda’s authentic monologues about the untimely death of her husband, the valued cinematographer Edward Kłosiński.
