Andrzej Wajda has been awarded the European Film Academy Critics Award 2009 – Prix Fipresci. As Klaus Eder, FIPRESCI's General Secretary, announced on December 3rd, the award is a both a recogniction of Wajda's previous work, which has inspired several generations of filmmakers, critics and cinema-goers,but also the last incredible film of the Polish director.
Our award also honours his latest film TATARAK. It’s not at all what you would call a later work - it is, on the contrary, the film of a young spirit, with which Wajda in a risky and courageous way undertakes to open new and very personal perspectives for the European authors’ cinema of today – said Eder.
“Sweet Rush” had its worldwide premiere at the 59th International Film Festival in Berlin and was recognized by its jury with the Alfred Bauer Award.
